Baccalauréat revision,
with a team behind it
Baccalauréat général, technologique et professionnel
France's school-leaving qualification, marked out of 20 with mentions above 12.
The baccalauréat général combines continuous assessment with terminal examinations in two spécialités, philosophy and the Grand oral, plus the French examinations sat at the end of première. Everything is marked out of 20, with coefficients weighting subjects differently.

Worth knowing about Baccalauréat
The specifics below are the ones that change how you should plan. Always check the current specification with your school or the awarding body — specifications get revised, and the version you are entered for is the one that counts.
Coefficients weight subjects differently, so an hour spent on a high-coefficient spécialité is worth more than the same hour on a low-coefficient subject.
The French written and oral examinations are sat at the end of première, a year before the rest — a deadline that arrives while terminale still feels distant.
The Grand oral requires defending a prepared question linked to your spécialités, and it is assessed on delivery and reasoning as much as content.
Philosophy is compulsory in the baccalauréat général and is examined through a long dissertation or commentary, which is a writing skill rather than a content one.
Parcoursup uses bulletins from première and terminale, so continuous assessment decides admission before the final examinations are sat.
What each teacher does for Baccalauréat
All eight are AI, and we say so plainly. What is real is the output: sessions in your calendar, sources in your book, citations checked, cards queued until you can recall them cold.
Daniel · Study planner
Takes your Baccalauréat subjects and works backwards from the real timetable. French examinations at the end of première; spécialité examinations, philosophy and the Grand oral in terminale. Sessions land in your calendar as real events with reminders, and the plan adjusts when a week goes wrong.
Sarah · Subject tutor
Explains at the depth Baccalauréat actually assesses, with worked examples, then asks the questions that check you have understood rather than just followed along.
Tommy · Quizzer
Turns each concept you get into a spaced-repetition card and brings it back at widening intervals until you can produce it cold. Marked out of 20. 10 is the pass; mentions assez bien, bien and très bien are awarded from 12, 14 and 16. Most of the gap between where you are and where you want to be is recall under pressure, not understanding.
Margaret · Librarian
Finds sources, summarises them at three depths, imports them into your subject book and formats the citations in MLA, APA, Chicago or Harvard.
Eleanor · Writing coach
Reads your extended answers and essays for structure and argument, and shows you where a marker stops following you — without rewriting it for you.
Charles · Citation checker
Checks every in-text citation points at a real entry in your bibliography, and flags the ones that do not before a marker does.
Penny · Proofreader
Catches grammar, spelling, and the sentences that technically parse but will not survive a tired examiner.
Sam · Accountability
Tracks what you actually did against what the plan said, and tells you early when Baccalauréat preparation has slipped far enough to need a different plan rather than more willpower.

Baccalauréat: fair questions
How do I prepare for the philosophie paper?
As extended argumentative writing, not as content recall. The marks come from the structure of the dissertation and the handling of the problem — Eleanor reviews exactly that, in French.
How much do coefficients matter?
Enough to change where your hours go. A high-coefficient spécialité and a low-coefficient option are not equally worth revising, and planning without that arithmetic wastes real time.
When do I need to be ready for the French exams?
The end of première, which is a year before everything else. It is the most commonly under-planned deadline in the whole bac.
