AI study help for
Hong Kong
The HKDSE — four core subjects, electives, and a JUPAS application that runs on levels.
Hong Kong examines through a single qualification, the HKDSE, administered by the HKEAA. Students take four core subjects plus electives, and university admission runs through JUPAS on the basis of DSE levels, with different programmes weighting subjects differently.

The calendar you are actually planning against
- Academic year
- Early September to early July.
- Exam season
- HKDSE written examinations run from late March into May.
- University entry
- JUPAS is the central application system for local universities. Programmes specify minimum levels in the core subjects and weight electives differently, so the same DSE profile can be strong for one programme and weak for another.
- Boards covered
- HKDSE

Daniel · Study planner
Builds the week backwards from the real timetable. HKDSE written examinations run from late March into May. Sessions go into your calendar as real events, not onto a wall chart.
Sarah · Subject tutor
Explains what you are stuck on at the level your qualification actually assesses, then checks you have understood it.
Margaret · Librarian
Finds sources, summarises them at three depths, and formats citations in MLA, APA, Chicago or Harvard.
Tommy · Quizzer
Turns what you have understood into spaced-repetition cards and brings them back until you can recall them cold.
Eleanor · Writing coach
Reviews essay structure and argument, and tells you where a marker would lose the thread.
Charles · Citation checker
Verifies every in-text citation resolves to a real entry in your bibliography.
Penny · Proofreader
Catches grammar, spelling and clarity problems without flattening your voice.
Sam · Accountability
Tells you honestly when the plan has stopped being realistic, early enough to change it.
Hong Kong: fair questions
Do you cover all four core subjects?
Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Citizenship and Social Development, plus the common electives. The cores are where JUPAS minimums bite, so they get planned first.
How should I choose which electives to push?
By working backwards from how your target programmes weight them — the same grade is worth different amounts depending on the course. That is an arithmetic question worth answering in Form 5, not Form 6.
Can you help with English Language paper technique?
Yes — Eleanor works on structure in the writing papers and Penny on accuracy, which between them cover most of where DSE English marks are lost.
