The Dutch national examination, averaged with the school examination to produce each subject's final grade.

Worth knowing about Centraal Examen
The specifics below are the ones that change how you should plan. Always check the current specification with your school or the awarding body — specifications get revised, and the version you are entered for is the one that counts.
The schoolexamen and centraal examen each contribute roughly half of every subject's final grade.
Pass rules apply across the whole subject set, not just individually — a low grade in one subject can be compensated, but only within limits.
Your profiel determines which subjects you take and which degree programmes are open to you afterwards.
Wiskunde A and Wiskunde B are different subjects with different destinations, and the choice is made well before the final year.
A herkansing in June allows one resit, which makes a single bad paper recoverable.
What each teacher does for Centraal Examen
All eight are AI, and we say so plainly. What is real is the output: sessions in your calendar, sources in your book, citations checked, cards queued until you can recall them cold.

Centraal Examen: fair questions
Which subjects can I afford to be weak in?
The compensation rules allow some low grades but not many, and they interact across the whole set. Working out where you actually stand against them is more useful than a general sense of doing badly — Daniel plans to the rule, not the feeling.
Should I plan for a herkansing?
Not as the primary plan, but knowing which subject you would resit is worth deciding in advance — the June window is short and targeted, and choosing in the moment wastes most of it.
Wiskunde A or B?
B is required for most science and engineering programmes; A serves economics and the social sciences. It is decided well before the final year, and changing later is difficult.
