QCE (Queensland) revision,
with a team behind it
Queensland Certificate of Education, QCAA
Three internal assessments plus one external assessment per subject, in a system rebuilt around external exams.
Queensland's senior system pairs internal assessment with an external examination in each General subject, usually weighted 75 to 25 — or 50 to 50 in Mathematics and the sciences. Results are reported as subject results and converted into an ATAR.

Worth knowing about QCE (Queensland)
The specifics below are the ones that change how you should plan. Always check the current specification with your school or the awarding body — specifications get revised, and the version you are entered for is the one that counts.
Most General subjects use three internal assessments plus one external assessment, with the external weighted 25 per cent — but 50 per cent in Mathematics and the sciences.
Internal assessment instruments are endorsed and confirmed by the QCAA, so the standards are externally checked rather than school-set.
Because internal assessment dominates in most subjects, the year is a sequence of high-stakes tasks rather than a build-up to one exam period.
The QCE itself requires a set amount of learning at a set standard, separately from the ATAR.
External assessments in Mathematics and science carrying 50 per cent changes the revision arithmetic considerably in those subjects.
What each teacher does for QCE (Queensland)
All eight are AI, and we say so plainly. What is real is the output: sessions in your calendar, sources in your book, citations checked, cards queued until you can recall them cold.
Daniel · Study planner
Takes your QCE (Queensland) subjects and works backwards from the real timetable. External assessments run in October and November. Sessions land in your calendar as real events with reminders, and the plan adjusts when a week goes wrong.
Sarah · Subject tutor
Explains at the depth QCE (Queensland) actually assesses, with worked examples, then asks the questions that check you have understood rather than just followed along.
Tommy · Quizzer
Turns each concept you get into a spaced-repetition card and brings it back at widening intervals until you can produce it cold. Subject results reported A to E, built from a mark out of 100 across the assessment instruments. Most of the gap between where you are and where you want to be is recall under pressure, not understanding.
Margaret · Librarian
Finds sources, summarises them at three depths, imports them into your subject book and formats the citations in MLA, APA, Chicago or Harvard.
Eleanor · Writing coach
Reads your extended answers and essays for structure and argument, and shows you where a marker stops following you — without rewriting it for you.
Charles · Citation checker
Checks every in-text citation points at a real entry in your bibliography, and flags the ones that do not before a marker does.
Penny · Proofreader
Catches grammar, spelling, and the sentences that technically parse but will not survive a tired examiner.
Sam · Accountability
Tracks what you actually did against what the plan said, and tells you early when QCE (Queensland) preparation has slipped far enough to need a different plan rather than more willpower.

QCE (Queensland): fair questions
How much does the external exam count?
25 per cent in most General subjects, 50 per cent in Mathematics and the sciences. That difference should visibly change your plan — treating an English external like a Physics external misallocates months.
How do I stay on top of internal assessment?
Get all three instruments per subject onto one calendar in Unit 3, not as they arrive. Across six subjects that is eighteen assessment tasks, and they cluster — Daniel surfaces the clashes early enough to do something about them.
Does Year 11 count?
Units 1 and 2 contribute to QCE credit but ATAR calculation is based on Units 3 and 4. Year 11 still decides what you can carry into Year 12, which is the part worth taking seriously.
