Worth knowing about SACE (South Australia)
The specifics below are the ones that change how you should plan. Always check the current specification with your school or the awarding body — specifications get revised, and the version you are entered for is the one that counts.
Stage 2 assessment is 70 per cent internal and 30 per cent external across subjects, which puts the weight of the year on continuous work.

How seriously should I take the Research Project?

Does 70 per cent internal mean exams matter less?
It means they matter differently. Thirty per cent still decides grade boundaries at the margin, and it arrives in one November window after a year in which nothing else felt like an exam.
What counts towards my ATAR?
Stage 2 results across the required credit load, including the Research Project, scaled by subject. Which subjects you carry to Stage 2 is therefore the decision that shapes the ATAR most.
